Naughty Little Blogger

Tuesday, February 28, 2006

Well, I have not been neglecting this blog by choice. Computer and internet at home have been playing up for the last few days so I haven't been able to get on and post away. Have lots to share.

Had another great weekend. Saturday morning had breakfast with my mum, dad and "little" sister, Beth. "Little" cause although she is younger than me, Beth is the tallest of us three girls!

Such a nice brekkie. Homemade museli & yoghurt, then eggs, bacon, tomato and mushrooms on the bbq. And it was so nice to be able to hang out with my family. They only live fifteen minutes away but we seriously don't see each other enough! Love my family so much.

Saturday night, Andrew and I went to our friend Bruce's 30th birthday party. The theme was 'B' (for Bruce) and we all had to get dressed up. Andrew went as a basketballer and I went as a bimbo - blonde wig, red skirt, lipstick and nail polish. It was so much fun. One of our friends shaved his head smooth and went BALD. It was such a fun night. People went to so much effort - there were bishops, bogans, ballerinas, bats, bums, bears, bees, butterflies, brides, Biggest Losers, beauty queens, even the Blues Brothers made an appearance. Totally love dressing up and it was so cool to see what everyone came as and just the creative side coming out of everyone.

Anyway, I've blabbed on enough. Well hopefully post again tomorrow - if the computer decides to work!

The Hunger Site

Thursday, February 23, 2006

I've recently stumbled across this awesome website called The Hunger Site. There is a button you can click every day and the sponsors of the site donate money toward food for those in third world countries. What a fantastic opportunity for all of us to make a small, yet important difference in the lives of fellow human beings. Why not visit this important site, donate some food (it don't cost you a cent!) and make it a daily website that you visit. Click here http://www.thehungersite.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/CTDSites and check it out. Below in some info from the site on just how huge this problem of hunger really is. It's not just about keeping people full. Hunger causes so many more problems than that. It is so easy to forget how hard some people have it, when there is food on the table three times a day. I want to be contiually shocked and saddened by the state of the world and the greed of our country and others. I want to be shocked into doing something about it.

HUNGER: DO YOU KNOW THE FACTS?
It is estimated that one billion people in the world suffer from hunger and malnutrition. That's roughly 100 times as many as those who actually die from these causes each year.
About 24,000 people die every day from hunger or hunger-related causes. This is down from 35,000 ten years ago, and 41,000 twenty years ago. Three-fourths of the deaths are children under the age of five.
Famine and wars cause about 10% of hunger deaths, although these tend to be the ones you hear about most often. The majority of hunger deaths are caused by chronic malnutrition. Families facing extreme poverty are simply unable to get enough food to eat.

Lawn Bowls Layout

Tuesday, February 21, 2006

I've just realised that I haven't posted any LOs on my blog yet. So here is the last LO I've done. Started it at the all day scrap by Simply Scrapbooking and only finished it last Friday - had to do the journalling. I made the 'bowls' letters myself - kind of tried to make them look like the Lil Davis letters, although they are not as big. I am quite happy with how they came out.
Anyway, the photos are from Fiona Shanks' 40th birthday party at the end of January. We did Lawn Bowling - it was soo much fun and some of us even dressed for the occasion.

Boats, 4WDs and one very busy weekend

Monday, February 20, 2006

Well it's been a couple of days since I last blogged and man what a busy few days that has been. I had such a great weekend but it was soooo busy and tiring.
Had Cath and Mark stay over on Friday night from Adelaide. Cath has been my best friend for about 12 years and it's so great to catch up with her and hubby Mark when we can.

Saturday evening Andrew and I went to Williamstown with our church's young adults group. It was so much fun and so beautiful down there with all the boats and funky restaurants and shops. We were supposed to go on a boat around the bay but the one we were going to go on was booked out for a charter. Will have to go down again in a few weeks and try again!!

Sunday (after church) we headed off to Wilhelmina Falls which is about 1/2 hour from Yarra Glen for a picnic lunch and some 4wd with friends. Have never done 4 wheel driving before but it was soo fun. Went through a few big mud puddles and over some seriously rugged terrain but the scenery was beautiful.

Eat Healthier. Live longer

Friday, February 17, 2006

This will be my motto from now on. I eat far too much crap and do not exercise enough and today it's all going to change. Two of my new years resolutions was to eat healthier and to exercise more regularly and so far I have not done well on either of these. So today, I have had enough. Enough of feeling crap about myself, enough of feeling tired, enough of having no self discipline - of not being able to say no to chocolate.
From today, I am going to cut chocolate, cakes, biscuits, (all that tastes good in this world!LOL) and eat better. I am going cold turkey on all bad foods.
From today, apples are my new best friend. My tummy will be full of all things good - salads, fruit, everything fresh, fresh, fresh.

Why not put down that biscuit or chocolate bar you're eating, and join me on this fresh, healthy food crusade!! Your body will thank you for it!

Yippee Yah Yay

I learnt how to link other people's blogs to mine. Woo Hoo.
So now you can all see who's blogs I check out. Now if I could just work out why my websites link is a little skewed I'd be happy!!
I am really starting to like this blogging thing. Warning or PSA (public service announcement) - blogging is very addictive!!

Love at first sight

Do you believe in love at first sight? I am not so sure. When I first met Andrew, I was attracted to him, but I don't think I could say I was in love with him from that very moment. It wasn't long after (5-6 weeks) that I knew he was the one, but it wasn't love at first sight.
So, apart from scrapbooking, another loved past time of mine is reading. I generally read for about 1/2 -1 hour every night. Love how books have the ability to transport you to other times and places. And if you know me at all, you will know that ever since visiting South Africa, I have had a passion for all things African. At the moment I am reading a book called The White Masai. It is such an unbelievable book. It is a true story of a white Swiss woman who fell in love (at first sight) with a Masai warrior while on holidays in Kenya. She gives up her wealthy life in Switzerland, her thriving fashion business and her steady boyfriend, and moved to Kenya to live with this man in a totally different culture to what she had ever known.
It is such an interesting read and has really opened my eyes further to how others live around the world and to remember that our culture and our way of life isn't the only way to live and although I wouldn't change what I have for anything, I mustn't judge those who choose to live differently to me.

Anyway, hopping off the soapbox now!!

All day scrap

Wednesday, February 15, 2006

On Sunday, I attended an all day scrap by Simply Scrapbooking. I'd never been to one of these before and it was soo much fun.
I got a bit of scrapping done - a LO, a CJ entry and one of the make n takes they offered, which was a mini clipboard (see pic above). I loved this little challenge.
But the best thing about the day, was meeting new people and seeing what others were working on, getting inspiration.
So a big thanks to my scrapping friend Lyn, for letting me know about this day and a big thanks also to Nicole, Joy and the other girls at SS for hosting a stellar event.

Working it all out

Tuesday, February 14, 2006

Well I am back. Just trying to work all this blog stuff out. How to post a profile pic, how to post pics in my posts. It's all a learning experience.

Today was ok. Had my computer stolen from work over the weekend and only had about half the stuff backed up, so yesterday, today and most likely the rest of the week, has been and will be spent trying to compile my work and work out exactly what I've lost. That part totally sucks. But hopefully I get a nice new shiny laptop soon to ease my sorrows!!

Anyway, off to work out some more of this blog stuff (and maybe scrapbook at little!!)

Love and stuff

Megs

Come blog with me

Well I said I never would but what would I know - I have jumped on the ever-growing bandwagon of scrapbooking obsessed bloggers.

It was actually really easy and really fun to set this up and I really think I am going to enjoy this adventure into blogdom.

Will post again later

Thanks for joining me on the ride
