What to write

Friday, March 31, 2006

So I don't really have much to say today but felt it was time for another post.
Been scrapping up a storm lately but for some reason our scanner does not want to work. May have to photograph them and post them later.

Survivor on Tuesday night rocked. Love it already - so much tension and rivalry and it was only the first episode. I even managed to do a scrapbook LO in the ads! Now that's an achievement.

Anyway, things are pretty cruisey around here at the moment and I have a pretty quite weekend ahead so that's always nice for a change! Having coffee and some scrapbook shopping with my sis-in-law tomorrow so that should be fun but that is pretty much it for my Saturday.

Anyway, watch out for any April Fool's tomorrow

Till next time

Reality TV heaven

Tuesday, March 28, 2006

So in a previous post I talked about my love for all things reality TV. Loving the new series of The Amazing Race - go BJ and Tyler. Total champions and hippies to boot.

So my other most favorite reality TV show is back on tonight - SURVIVOR. This is like the mother of all reality TV shows. It paved the way for utterly ridiculous reality TV shows - and I love them all.

This Survivor apparently has a twist with an exile island of some sort. Not sure what that is all about, but will fill you all in tomorrow.

So as much as I would love to be scrapbooking tonight - I will be glued to the TV set watching the ultimate in reality TV. Although I could probably do both at the same time! Just might try that and show you the results tomorrow (if my scanner decides to work!!)

Belated Happy Birthday and Tagged

Sunday, March 26, 2006

Forgot to post yesterday about my husband Andrew. It was his 31st birthday. So a big belated blogland birthday to my fantastic man.

Also, been scrap-tagged by Katie so thought I would respond.

What scrapbook lines/products, etc. do you dislike?
There is not much scrap-related that I don't like but I am sure I could think of a couple. I agree with Katie about the paper that is made up of photos - don't like that much. Not really a fan of the brad or eyelets that are themed - like flowers, triangles, etc.. Just like the plain round brads and eyelets (although there are baby feet brads that are very cute!!) Don't like tacky stuff that will date really quickly. I like stuff to be timeless.

What is the hardest thing you have ever had to scrap?
The last photos that I had taken with my grandpa before he died. But it was soo good for me as well. Made me think about what he meant to me and the impact he'd had on my life. I just wanted to do him justice.

What technique do you use more than anything else?
Probably inking, computer and handwritten journalling

What is the smallest scrap of paper you save?
I am a bit of scrap hoarder. I don't usually save anything smaller than a credit card though. I often find myself sifting through my scraps box and finding just the right bit of paper. So need to organise it better though

Have you ever had any scrapbook related injuries?
No but I am sure I will have one soon enough!

Finish this sentence, "If I wasn't a scrapbooker/stamper, I would spend my money on..."
clothes, stuff for the house. MASSAGES and FACIALS!!!

Give us your best storage or organizational idea.
I have all my ribbon on old style clothespins in a big see through box (which is a very cool pink colour). The ribbon looks so cool and pretty on the pegs and it's easy to see what I have. Also keep my paper and cardstock in vertical paper holders - am in love with this system

You just won a week long scrapbooking cruise for 5. Who is going with you?
My Melbourne 2Peas friends - Katie, Lyn, Carolyn, Jess, Sofi and my girlfriend Marina (who's just started getting into scrapping!) Tha's six but I am the winner so I get to bring more!

When you received your first publication notification, who did you tell?
This has only just happened in the last couple of months for me and I told my husband first. Then I got straight online and told my 2peas friends. I was so excited and can't wait for the magazine to come out.

After answering the questions, tag four of your buddies.
I think I am going to tag Lyn (she it the only other scrapbooker that will read this that has a blog and hasn't been tagged yet!!)

The Games

So the Commonwealth Games are almost over and I think Melbourne did brilliantly. I am not a sport nut, but I don't mind watching certain sports for fairly short periods of time. Last night I totally surprised myself and watched the games from 7:00 - 11:00pm. Straight! No scrapbooking breaks, no change the channel for an hour or so. STRAIGHT! And I loved it. Really got into the athletics over the last few days.
But I, along with most of Australia, am completely devastated for Craig Mottram. I would have loved to have seen him fly in the last lap of the 1500m. But it was not meant to be. Andrew and I were just getting into the race , cheering away for him, and all of a sudden, down he goes. So sad for him. But I am sure he'll get over it. Hey, he got a silver medal in an earlier race. There are plenty of people who trained just as hard as he did to get to the games, only to walk away with nothing.

Made me think. What is it about sport that makes people train so hard, with no guarntees that they will ever win. I suppose it is indicitive of the human spirit and the need to challenge ourselves, and push hard. And more often than not, the athletes are happy when they go better than they've ever done. Past their personal best.

Still has to suck when you never win though!!

It finally came

Thursday, March 23, 2006

My office at work was broken in to about a month and a half ago and my laptop was stolen.

Today I finally got my new one. I think I'm in love already. It's soo fast and is going to be lots of fun to play around with. Will actually be able to start rebuilding all the files I lost.

Have learnt two things from this whole experience. Never leave a laptop at my office. Always back up files. DOH!

These lessons have most definitely been learnt. This laptop is getting handcuffed to my hands, baby!!

Making Poverty History

Just added a little "Make Poverty History" band to my blog. Why not click on it and see how you can help Make Poverty History. Buy a white band and and support the cause to erradicate third world debt.

A fun, fun day

Wednesday, March 22, 2006

Today was the best day. Andrew and I went into the city for lunch at the Grand Hyatt. Mum and Dad had given us vouchers for Christmas to have a meal at the Plane Tree Cafe so we thought we'd do it during the Commonwealth Games so we could soak up a bit of atmosphere. Lunch was so nice. Lots of yummy things to eat.

After lunch we walked around Fed Square and along the Yarra checking out all the free festival stuff that's going on. Saw the famous "Fish on the Yarra" They are amazing and would have taken ages to build. Melbourne is looking very nice at the moment. Love living here.

So even though we aren't going to any Commonwealth Games events, I feel I've been part of the action a little bit.

As for my second Commonwealth team, GUERNESEY, we haven't done to well in the medal tally but it's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game!!

An ode to Tom

Tuesday, March 21, 2006

So I totally love reality TV - Amazing Race, Survivor, love them (one week to go till Survivor starts again - WOO HOO!) I do draw the line at Big Brother though - trashiest tv show on earth.

Anyway, although I don't watch it regularly, Dancing with the Stars is good for a laugh sometimes. The only time I did watch it every week was when Tom Williams was dancing. Wow, is he one nice looking man. So tonight (because of the Games), Channel 7 are running a special Dancing with the Stars which looks back at some of the best and worst dances of all the series. I have been praying for about a week that they show Tom and Kym in his "strip" dance (see piccie left)

So girls (and guys) let's celebrate God's creation tonight and watch Tom in all his shirtlessness. What a gorgeous gorgeous man.

Till next time.

Sleepover

Monday, March 20, 2006

There's a sleepover at our house tonight - our niece Jessie (who's 5) has come to spend the night at our house and then is going to hang out with her uncle Andrew tomorrow - seeing they are both on school holidays. She is such a gem and she is so excited to be spending some time with Andrew - she loves him to bits. Better stop blogging and help get her to bed.

She has to be in bed before 8:30pm cause Desperate Housewives is on!! LOL

Glamour Photography

Sunday, March 19, 2006

One of the electives that I helped organise at the Junior Creative Arts Camp last weekend was Glamour Photography. It was a chance for girls (and a few boys!) to get dressed up, put some make-up on, have the hair done and have some photos taken. The photos looked unreal and the kids looked so gorgeous. I wasn't planning on having my photo taken, but a couple of the girls from my church roped me in. This is one of my favourites that were taken of the three of us. Hannah is on my left and Georgia is on my right (as you look at the picture!)

These two girls are both gorgeous (inside and out) and I am so privileged to have an opportunity to share in their lives as well as the other girls at my church. I love them all to bits and it is so awesome to be able to see them growing up to be awesome chicks who love life.

I really hope I can be the kind of person that they can look up to and that they see in me someone who loves God, loves people, loves life and wants to make a difference and an impact on the world.

Is there anyone you guys looked up to as kids (or still do)? What kind of influence did they have on you (and does it continue to impact your life?)

Here's to all those in our lives who make us better people.

Happy Birthday Clare

Saturday, March 18, 2006

Today is my sister Clare's, 25th Birthday. Just wanted to wish you a happy birthday. Hope your day (and year) is filled with heaps of love, fun and plenty of adventures.

(This is a photo of Clare and her hubby Matt on the wedding day 3 1/2 years ago)

Enjoyed a yummy birthday breakfast at our house this morning for Clare. Bacon, eggs, sausages, yum, yum, yum.

Gotta go for a workout now!

Till next time

SOO EXCITED!!!!!!

Friday, March 17, 2006

I know I have already posted today but just checked out Ali's blog (link is over on the side) and she had this on there. For all those who are not scrapbookers, Ali Edwards is like a total scrapbooking guru. I think I may just be her #1 fan. Anyway, her second book comes out in April and I cannot wait.

I think I may start an "Loving Ali" club.

Will anyone else join me??

A pregnant pause!

Found out on the weekend that one of my oldest and closest friends, Cath, is having a baby! So excited for her. She is about 10 weeks so she has about 7 months to go. Totally love Cath and her hubby Mark. Cath and I have been friends since we where about 13-14 years old so we've been friends for about 12-13 years. (That's like half my life). We meet while I was living in Adelaide and we can best friends pretty much as soon as we met. Since I've been living in Melbourne (about 8 years) it's been a littl harder to maintain the closeness but we've tried our hardest and often visit each other and talk lots on the phone.

It's kind of weird to think that one of my close friends is going to have a baby. That means it could be me one day soon. FREAK OUT!!

SO a big congrats to Cath and Mark - you guys are going to be awesome parents and I am so looking forward to spoiling your bubba.

I'm Back & Go Guernsey

Thursday, March 16, 2006

Well, what a crazy two weeks I've had. Spent Mon-Fri of last week at a course called LAB 1. All about learning how to listen effectively to people. Should be really helpful for me in my job and also just in general. I think we could all learn how to listen a little better.

After LAB 1, spent the weekend at the Salvation Army's Junior Creative Arts Camp. I had an absolute ball - although I am pretty tired now. There were 78 kids that came along and I am pretty sure they all had a great time too. Loved hanging out with the kids and just getting along side them and encouraging them. Also loved hanging out with all the leaders. Got to know some pretty cool people and have a stack of fun with them.

One of the things on camp was that we were put into obscure Commonwealth countries and participated in various activities were we had the opportunity to win points for our country.

I was put in charge on Guernsey (see the national flag above), along with one the nicest and funniest guys I know, Matt Atkins. We had such a fun time hanging with our team, making up team chants and facts about our country.
Because of my new love for Guernsey, I am now hoping they will win a medal at the games. So come on all you sports lovers - lets cheer for the great team from Guernsey.

Till next time

A Twist of Pink

Sunday, March 05, 2006

So, computer is back - missed it so much. Amazing how much you actually use the thing!!

Friday night went along to a friends 40th. Had to wear a twist of pink. Was so much fun. I wore a pink top and pink nail polish. Andrew wore a pink arm band and had pink in his shirt. Was soo cool to see what everyone came dressed in. There was a lot of pink hairspray (someone had even sprayed their beard!!)

Was such a good night and the weather was beautiful.

Got a busy week ahead. Am attending a conference all week and then off to JCAC - Junior Creative Arts Camp over the long weekend. It's a camp run by the Salvos for 9-15 year olds. I am doing a scrapbooking elective so i am pretty exctited about that. But I know I am going to be stuffed by next week. Lots of coffee for me!

Photos are of me and my two girlfriends, Jackie and Marina and also of Andrew and I, all at the pink party.

Hope you're all having a great weekend.

Tha Amazing Race

Thursday, March 02, 2006

One of my all time favorite TV shows is starting again tonight - The Amazing Race. Love this show. Love how it shows the dynamics of human relationships in stressful situations. It brings out the best and the worst in people and shows their true colours - and it's just good fun.

So won't be any scrapping happening tonight - well be preparing for the big Amazing Race premeire

Later
